The origin
The idea came before the company. As a university student, hydrogeologist Gennady Carmi began exploring how high-pressure gas could be used for cleaning and stimulating water and oil wells. In 1997 he founded the company — initially named ProWell Technologies Ltd. — within a technological incubator in Sde Boker, in Israel's Negev desert, to turn that idea into a working tool.
The challenge was reliability: applying powerful, repeatable high-pressure impulses in the demanding environment of a water well. After two years of development, Carmi and an engineering group led by mechanical engineer Yuri As succeeded — by 1999, the first AirShock® Impulse Generator was working. The optimization has never really stopped since.
The story, year by year
Founded in the Negev
Founded as ProWell Technologies Ltd. by hydrogeologist Gennady Carmi, Ph.D., within a technological incubator in Sde Boker, in Israel's Negev desert.
First patent filed
The company files its first patent application for its impulse method and device — the first of many that followed.
The first AirShock® Impulse Generator
After two years of engineering, the first AIG is working: a tool that delivers powerful, repeatable high-pressure impulses reliably inside a water well.
Into the US market
AirShock enters the US water well rehabilitation market, working with Layne Christensen — and later with many other companies across the USA, Europe, South America and Asia. A second patent application is filed the same year.
The hose-reel line
After years of fitting third-party reels with its own hydraulic and electric power packs, Flow launches its own line of heavy-duty hose reels — for AirShock and for wider industrial applications.
Omer Industrial Park — and six continents
Headquartered in Omer Industrial Park, Israel, where the AIG tools and hose reels are designed and manufactured, with representatives in the USA, Europe, and Latin & South America — and numerous patents for its methods and devices.
Designed and built in-house
Every AirShock® impulse generator and every Flow hose reel is designed and manufactured at the company's facility in Omer Industrial Park, Israel. Engineering and production under one roof is what allows each tool and reel to be matched to the well, the hose, and the job — not adapted from a catalogue.
Flow Industries is a member of the National Ground Water Association (NGWA), and presents regularly at industry events including Groundwater Week.
